Radiation Shielding Glass

RD50

SCHOTT Radiation Shielding Glass

RD50®

Due to its Lead Oxide content of ≥65%, RD50 provides radiation protection by absorbing ionizing Gamma and X-Rays

Excellent internal transmission

High quality fire polished surface finish

More scratch resistant than acrylic

Much thinner than acrylic with same effect

We hold standard sheets in stock that can be cut to your required dimensions.

Available in standard thicknesses ranging from 6.0-23.0mm.

Increased thickness requirements for higher lead equivalence can be obtained through laminating multiple sheets.

RS Glass Series

  • RS 253

  • RS 253 G18

  • RS 323 G19

  • RS 360

  • RS 520

These specifically developed Radiation Shielding Glasses provide high shielding capability and resistance against ionizing irradiation for applications in Nuclear Energy Production and Nuclear Waste Treatment (high long-term light transmittance and discharge resistance).

RS 253 G18 and RS 323 G19 are doped with Cerium Dioxide to prevent browning caused by  high-energy radiation-induced ionization.
