| Precision Gobs as Preforms for Aspheric Lenses |
Product Information Advanced Optics has developed precision gobs that can be used as preforms for the production of aspheric lenses in a precision molding process. Precision gobs are manufactured from a unique continuous glass melting process, which exhibit a very smooth fire-polished surface with an excellent surface roughness and high volume accuracy. Key Advantage - No further post processing of the precision gob is required before molding
Applications As preforms for the precision molding of aspheric lenses and other optical components in consumer products such as: - Digital Still Cameras (DSC)
- Camcorders
- Digital Rear Projection Television (DRP-TV)
- Digital Front Projectors
Materials A series of newly developed Low Tg glasses, provide increased mould lifetimes, through the direct reduction in pressing loads at lower temperatures, improving output rates through reduced cycle time Forms of Supply Volume 250 mm3 to 5,000 mm3 Precision gobs are however only produced in very high volumes. Specifications Refractive index: ± 0.0005 Abbe number: ± 0.8% Volume tolerance: 0.5% to 2% Diameter tolerance: ± 0.2 mm Surface quality: scratch & dig 40/20
Quality Assurance Based on statistical process control and rigorous final inspection, using 2d- and 3d profile measurement systems, white light interferometer and atomic force mircroscope, product conformity is assured. For more information please contact the team at Skan
