Cylindrical lenses have a spherical radius in one direction only, where:
 

• Close curvature tolerance are maintained (despite the product thickness)
• High precision radii are ensured
• Awkward glass types can machined
• Convex radii from 1 mm to 10 mm can be produced
• Centering accuracy in the order of 2 minutes on small rectangular lenses
• Coating capabilities.

Applications
The main applications for cylinder lenses are in laser projection, bar code scanning, holography, optical information processing and computing.
