| 2011 Q1&Q2 SKAN Activities |
The first 6 months of 2012 has been a busy time once again: Sales - "Sales continue to remain above last year despite the general gloomy business situation out there" says Jeremy Drew Sales Manager at SKAN. "Because we've been around for 57 years, we manage to operate in truly the widest range of UK business which means that any losses experienced are (more often that not) compensated for by the gains achieved in growing existing businesses as well as altogether new business areas. Thats been the story of our year so far..." Partners - "Our core SCHOTT business remains very strong with new materials development being a prime focus. The new area of "opto-ceramics" offers exciting new prospects for opto mechanical system design. Similarly, the area of glass in art, is also an expanding area where unique properties, sizes, shapes or ex-stock availability all play their part... (See our latest "Glass for Art" page)". "Regarding altogether new business, SKAN continues to invest significant amounts of time and resource looking into new products/markets on which to base our future growth. With our strong fires and fireplace links and a close eye on regulation changes, discussions with the prestigious market leader in control systems Honeywell last year, have now culminted in a NEW supply partnership supplying Honeywell's accredited Carbon Monoxide Alarms! This expands our product portfolio into this area and allows us to widen our approach to this particular market, servicing our customers' better and offering a service that is second to none".
